New Graduate Webinar Series 

How to Create Trauma Informed Behavior Intervention Plans 

We had our first Graduate Webinar on  Wednesday, August 19th with Behavior Specialist and recent TIS graduate Kathy Flores.  She shared her insights on tailoring Behavior Intervention Plans using a Trauma Informed lens. All participants received a wealth of resources including templates & samples of Trauma Informed BIPs.

Pediatrician Dr. Nadine Burke Harris explains that the repeated stress of abuse, neglect and parents struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues has real, tangible effects on the development of the brain.
There is a growing understanding of the need for trauma-sensitive schools among educators but we are often asked “how do you do it?” TLPI is pleased to share this 10 minute video highlighting one elementary school’s journey. 
This short video explains the CDC-Kaiser Permanente Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, the groundbreaking epidemiological research that revealed the link between childhood trauma and the adult onset of chronic disease, mental illness, violence and being a victim of violence.
These short videos from The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction provide an excellent overview of what trauma is, what it may look like in the classroom, and best practices for removing barriers to learning for students dealing with trauma.​
