"Emily  is a phenomenal presenter and the subject matter is relevant to educators, psychotherapists or anyone who works with children. Her presentation is not only relevant, it’s also fun and engaging. Today she presented on Trauma Informed Care to therapists who work mostly with inner city youths. As I was leaving the training facility, people were commenting how much they appreciated the presentation and what a meaningful impact this training would have on their clinical work. It is the best 3 hours presentation on the subject matter that I have ever seen!"

While the first year long cohort began in April 2018, Emily Santiago has been lecturing and providing insights on the topic of Trauma Informed Education since 2015. Here is what participants of her training sessions and programs have to say:

"The TIE program has been just what I needed. Working in the prison I observed certain things that I didn't have the background or language to talk about.  It was happening but I didn't have the tools to handle it or the strategies or even the names for it. Now I can discuss the impact of trauma appropriately and address it. After this program I ask myself: how was I seeing the world before I knew about this? how was I reacting to situations without this lens?
I feel an urgent need to educate others in order to create a Trauma Informed environment here at Prison University. The focus now is on how can we make the students feel safe and empowered so they can learn."  -Allison Lopez, English Language Arts coordinator, PUP

"It is helpful to me personally, as well as professionally. I hope to share what I am learning with staff, as we have a high population of students with trauma in their lives. I also now understand the importance of self-care to avoid burnout, so I love that part of this coursework." - Principal, Carquinez, Ca and graduate of the TIE program

"Should have been a TED talk. The connection (with trauma and learning) was an Aha moment, and the data and studies were awesome!"  -Teacher, Urban Montessori Charter School

"It was truly all useful, you lead from the concrete with the brain responses to the abstract of how to deal with situations through discussions and case studies. Please can we have more PD?" -teacher, Contra Costa SELPA presentation

"Awesome and accommodating instructor!!!" - Special Day class teacher, San Pablo, Ca and graduate of the TIE program

"What was useful about the presentation? Every. Single. Thing!!! How can I participate in more work with you?" -Teacher, Urban Montessori Charter School
